Amid escalating Israel-Iran tensions, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has ordered intensified strikes targeting "symbols of the regime" in Tehran, aiming to destabilize the Iranian capital.

This military escalation threatens ongoing Indian evacuation efforts. The Indian government has initiated evacuation plans for its nationals in Israel, facilitating their departure via land borders followed by air travel to India. Simultaneously, "Operation Sindhu" is underway to evacuate Indians from Iran, with a special flight already repatriating 110 students from Urmia Medical University.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the evacuees include caregivers, diamond traders, construction and agriculture workers, IT professionals, and students.

"We, on our part, are making every effort to ensure the safe return of all Indian nationals from Iran. It is a major responsibility, and we are committed to fulfilling it. We have more planes on standby," said an Indian official.

Iranian Deputy Chief of Mission Javad Hosseini confirmed cooperation with India to repatriate about 1,000 Indian nationals via three special flights starting immediately.

The conflict has already resulted in significant casualties, with a week of Israeli strikes on Iran killing at least 657 people and wounding over 2,000, according to Human Rights Activists.

The strategic Strait of Hormuz, near Iran, remains a critical global oil transit point, adding to the geopolitical stakes of the conflict.

India's embassy in Tel Aviv is actively coordinating evacuation logistics and urging Indian nationals to register for assistance.

The intensifying conflict poses challenges to safe evacuation, underscoring the urgency of diplomatic and logistical efforts to protect Indian citizens caught in the crossfire.
