Amazon’s American Gladiators cast 16 elite athletes after nationwide fitness hunt

Amazon Prime Video has announced the casting of 16 elite athletes for its reboot of the iconic American Gladiators series, featuring an equal split of eight women and eight men aged 22 to 38. These competitors, ranging from 5'5" to 6'5" and weighing between 140 and 270 pounds, were selected after an exhaustive nationwide fitness hunt.

The series will be hosted by WWE Superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin, with sideline reporting by Rocsi Diaz, former co-host of BET’s 106 & Park, and play-by-play commentary from sports commentator Chris Rose, known for NFL GameDay Final.

Prime Video’s American Gladiators will blend brand new events with classic challenges from the original series, including “Gauntlet,” “Hang Tough,” and “The Eliminator.” This mix aims to honor the legacy of the show while introducing fresh competition.

The casting process was extensive, with the production team traveling across the country to meet thousands of fitness influencers and professional athletes to find the highest caliber of competitors.

“Our search for the new Gladiators had to be exhaustive,” the team said, emphasizing the commitment to assembling a top-tier cast.

This reboot promises to bring a new level of athleticism and entertainment to fans, combining the nostalgia of the original with modern-day fitness excellence.
