Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has achieved a landmark milestone with exports exceeding
Rs 10 lakh crores in 2024-25, underscoring the rapid growth and decentralization of India's IT sector.
Since its inception in 1991 with just three centres, STPI now operates
67 centres nationwide, with
59 located in Tier-II and Tier-III cities. This expansion plays a pivotal role in dispersing IT growth beyond metropolitan hubs, fostering inclusive development across the country.
Aligned with the Government of India's mandate, STPI actively promotes the IT industry's spread to smaller cities, ensuring broader economic participation. The organization also nurtures the tech startup ecosystem through its
24 Centres of Entrepreneurship (CoEs) and NGIS, supporting over
1,400 startups.
These startups have collectively raised
Rs 574 crores in funding from investors, highlighting the growing confidence in India's emerging tech hubs.
"STPI is working for the dispersal of the IT industry to Tier-II & Tier-III cities of the country for inclusive growth," reflecting its commitment to balanced regional development.
This decentralization not only boosts software exports but also strengthens the startup ecosystem, creating jobs and innovation opportunities beyond traditional urban centers.
STPI's evolution from a modest beginning to a nationwide network exemplifies India's dynamic IT landscape and its drive towards equitable growth.
As the sector continues to expand, STPI's role remains crucial in sustaining momentum and ensuring that the benefits of IT growth reach all corners of the country.
