Prime Minister Narendra Modi led over 3 lakh participants in Visakhapatnam on June 21, 2025, marking the 11th International Day of Yoga with a record-breaking event.
The yoga session stretched along a 26-km corridor from RK Beach to Bhogapuram, where synchronized asanas were performed by 3.01 lakh people, surpassing the previous record of 1.47 lakh participants set in Surat in 2023.

The event's theme, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," highlights the connection between individual well-being and planetary health, reflecting India's vision of global wellness.
This grand celebration was part of the month-long 'Yogaandhra' campaign, which engaged over 2.17 crore participants statewide, with total registrations exceeding 2.39 crore.

Security and logistics were meticulously planned, with 10,000 police personnel deployed and nearly 10,000 vehicles arranged to transport participants from across north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Over 1,438 trained yoga demonstrators and 907 certified instructors guided the session.

"The world is looking at Yoga as a powerful agent of Global Good," said PM Modi, emphasizing yoga's role amid global unrest and the need for inner peace as a global policy.
He recalled India's historic 2014 UN proposal that led to the International Day of Yoga, now celebrated in over 190 countries.

The event also set a Guinness World Record for the largest yoga gathering at a single location, with over 326 designated compartments for synchronized practice.
More than 50,000 people from Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts participated, showcasing widespread community involvement.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh distributed over 50 lakh yoga certificates to participants, further promoting yoga's integration into public health and education.

IT Minister Nara Lokesh announced yoga classes will become a regular part of school curricula, following a record-setting session by 25,000 tribal students performing 108 Surya Namaskars.

This year's International Yoga Day reinforced yoga's global reach and its potential as a holistic approach to health, peace, and environmental consciousness.
