Maharashtra's Covid-19 death toll has risen to
14 following four new fatalities reported in Nagpur, Chandrapur, and Miraj. The latest fatality involved a patient suffering from
cardiac arrhythmia and COPD with chronic bronchitis, highlighting the increased risk for those with pre-existing health conditions.
The state also reported
86 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, with the highest numbers coming from Mumbai (26), followed by Thane (9), Navi Mumbai (6), and one case each from Kalyan and Ulhasnagar. These figures underscore the continuing spread of the virus in urban centers.
Health officials noted that all recent deaths involved patients with underlying conditions such as
cardiac issues, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, and tuberculosis, which complicate recovery and increase mortality risk.
"All the new deaths involved patients with pre-existing conditions like cardiac issues, Parkinson's, diabetes, and tuberculosis," a health department source said.
The rise in fatalities and cases in Maharashtra reflects the ongoing challenges faced by the state in managing the pandemic, especially among vulnerable populations with chronic illnesses.
As the virus continues to spread, authorities are emphasizing the importance of protecting high-risk groups and ramping up healthcare resources to manage severe cases effectively.
