Clint Eastwood slams Hollywood sequels: I’m here to make originals, not retire

Legendary filmmaker Clint Eastwood has openly criticized Hollywood's increasing dependence on sequels and remakes, expressing a strong preference for original storytelling.

Eastwood lamented the loss of an era when screenwriters crafted unique stories, saying, "I long for the good old days when screenwriters wrote movies like Casablanca in small bungalows on the studio lot. When everyone had a new idea."

Having directed sequels three times earlier in his career, Eastwood now firmly believes in innovation over repetition. "My philosophy is: do something new or stay at home," he stated.

Last year, he directed Juror No. 2, an original courtroom thriller starring Nicholas Hoult, which received critical acclaim and underscored his commitment to fresh narratives.

Despite his long and decorated career, including four Academy Awards for films like Million Dollar Baby and Unforgiven, Eastwood insists he has no plans to retire anytime soon, emphasizing his ongoing passion for filmmaking.
