India dominated the first day of the opening Test against England in Leeds, finishing at 359/3 with centuries from Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant.

Former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu launched a fiery rebuttal against ex-England captain Michael Vaughan, who had predicted a 3-1 series win for England, famously stating, "They (India) arrive again to lose." Sidhu called Vaughan a "fool" and criticized England's bowling attack as "pedestrians."

"Fools grow without watering. Michael Vaughan, your predictions. They’re always wrong. Look at your bowling attack. They’re pedestrians. I mean, three of the Indian batsmen are stepping out and hitting them like spinners," Sidhu said in a video shared by Star Sports.

The Indian batsmen showed dominance, with Gill unbeaten on 127, Jaiswal scoring a century, and Pant contributing an aggressive 65 runs. Pant also reached a personal milestone, becoming the second Indian wicketkeeper to reach 3000 Test runs after MS Dhoni.

"Even a hen, while laying an egg, cackles as if she’s laying an asteroid," Sidhu added, mocking Vaughan's confidence.

England's bowlers struggled on a pitch conducive to batting, needing a strong performance on day two to regain control. Pant was heard advising Gill through the stump microphone to be cautious against spinner Shoaib Bashir.

The strong batting display signals India's readiness to carry their momentum into the post Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma era, with young batsmen stepping up impressively.
