Graham, who passed away on July 11 due to an aortic dissection, was remembered for his unwavering commitment to U.S. engagement abroad. 'He was a man who gave America the full measure of his good and mighty heart until that heart itself just gave out.' His death leaves a void in the Senate, particularly as the U.S. navigates ongoing conflicts in Iran and Ukraine.
The funeral service attracted numerous dignitaries, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Senate Majority Leader John Thune remarked on Graham's extensive contributions, stating, 'With Graham's death, a powerful voice and a magnetic friend of the Senate was gone.' In his final days, Graham was actively working on a Russia sanctions bill aimed at addressing the war in Ukraine, a priority for Republican leaders.

Following the service, Graham's remains will be returned to South Carolina for a funeral at the First Baptist Church in Columbia on Wednesday.
