Google DeepMind is pioneering an AI-powered email assistant designed to alleviate inbox overload by automating routine email management.
The system will mimic users' writing styles and reply on their behalf, prioritizing urgent messages and functioning as a digital personal assistant.
DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis emphasized the tool's potential to liberate users from the "daily grind of overflowing inboxes, missed messages, and repetitive replies."

"The thing I really want  and were working on  is can we have a next-generation email," Hassabis said. "I would love to get rid of my email. I would pay thousands of dollars per month to get rid of that!"

While AI is often heralded for solving grand challenges like disease and climate change, Hassabis believes its most immediate impact will be on everyday digital life.
The assistant aims to read, understand, and respond to routine emails in a users personal tone, effectively automating much of modern communication.

Hassabis also cautioned against inflated short-term expectations but remains optimistic about AI's future, predicting a 50% chance of achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI) within five to ten years, which could usher in a "golden era" of radical abundance.

"In the end, its for the good of all of humanity," he said. "Its going to affect the whole of humanity."
