Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself at the forefront of India's quantum technology race with the establishment of a Quantum Valley in its capital, Amaravati. The state cabinet, led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, approved the creation of a state Quantum Mission to complement the central government's National Quantum Mission (NQM).

The Quantum Valley will span 50 acres and focus on cutting-edge research in quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. It will collaborate with major industry and academic players such as TCS, IIT-Madras, and IBM to attract world-class researchers and international investments.

"The aim is to attract global researchers and international investments, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a national hub for quantum technology," said Information and Public Relations Minister K Parthasarathi.

Currently, India ranks sixth globally in quantum computing, with Andhra Pradesh aspiring to be the leader within the country. The state has formed a committee of quantum computing experts to guide the initiative.

The National Quantum Mission, running from 2023-24 to 2030-31 with a budget of ₹6,003.65 crore, supports infrastructure, research, and human resource development in quantum technologies across India.

This ambitious project aims to make Amaravati a beacon of innovation, potentially transforming Andhra Pradesh into a key player in the global quantum technology landscape.

"Naidu aims to make Amaravati number one in quantum computing," Parthasarathi added, highlighting the state's commitment to technological supremacy.

With strategic partnerships and significant government backing, Andhra Pradesh's Quantum Valley could accelerate India's progress in this critical emerging field.
