Pyx Health acquires FarmboxRx: 6.5 million to gain tailored nutrition access

Pyx Health has acquired FarmboxRx in a strategic move to broaden access to tailored nutrition, serving an estimated 6.5 million people across more than 100 markets.

FarmboxRx, founded in 2014 by Tyrner-Dolce, initially shipped produce nationwide but pivoted in 2019 to provide medically tailored food boxes as a health benefit to Medicare recipients and private health plans. The company reported $35 million in revenue in 2022 and ranked No. 100 on the Inc. 5000 list in 2023.

Pyx Health, launched after the founders' personal tragedy, focuses on combating loneliness through virtual companions and peer counseling. It generated $8 million in revenue in 2022 and improved its Inc. 5000 ranking from No. 558 in 2023 to No. 517 in 2024.

The acquisition was facilitated by a $47.5 million investment from S2G Investments, a venture capital firm specializing in agriculture and sustainability, alongside TT Capital Partners, which invested in Pyx in 2023.

"The combined company should reach more than 100 markets, serving about 6.5 million people," signaling a significant expansion in delivering health-focused nutrition solutions.

This merger aligns with growing trends in healthcare emphasizing nutrition as a critical component of patient care, particularly for Medicare populations. By integrating FarmboxRx's tailored food delivery with Pyx Health's digital health platform, the combined entity aims to enhance health outcomes through personalized nutrition and support services.

The deal underscores the increasing investor interest in health tech and sustainable food delivery models, positioning the new company as a leader in the intersection of healthcare, nutrition, and technology.
