Egypt’s Startup Charter launch soon: will it transform government support?

Egypt is preparing to launch its Startup Charter, a strategic initiative designed to transform government support for the burgeoning startup ecosystem.

The Charter aims to foster trust between startups and government agencies by clearly defining priorities and enhancing coordination among various government bodies. This move is expected to create a more efficient, transparent, and innovation-friendly environment for entrepreneurs.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized the importance of the Ministerial Group for Entrepreneurship in shaping a structured approach to support startups, drawing on global best practices.

According to a recent report by Minister Mashat, Egyptian startups have shown remarkable growth, attracting approximately $228 million in funding through 16 deals in the first five months of the year. Notably, 11 of these deals accounted for $156 million, marking a 130% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The Startup Charter is expected to serve as a cornerstone for entrepreneurship in Egypt by aligning government efforts and building a supportive ecosystem that encourages innovation and investment.

This initiative reflects Egypt's commitment to nurturing its startup sector, which is gaining momentum and attracting significant funding, signaling a promising future for entrepreneurs in the country.
