The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with PhonePe and Shell India Pvt. Ltd. to bolster support for recognized startups and promote innovation across key sectors.123456
The agreements, signed on August 19, aim to improve startups’ access to technology, digital infrastructure, mentorship, market opportunities, and industry networks.78
Under its partnership with PhonePe, DPIIT-recognized startups will receive transaction credits through the company's payment gateway, access to the Indus AppStore, and dedicated onboarding and support services. Startups will also gain opportunities for enhanced brand visibility, with PhonePe conducting regular masterclasses and webinars on fintech, sales, go-to-market strategies, and business scaling.

The second MoU with Shell India focuses on startups in the energy and climate-tech sectors. Shell India will provide mentorship, strategic guidance, investor and incubator connections, and opportunities to participate in the Shell E4 Smart Energy Track, potentially offering additional growth and scaling opportunities.
DPIIT stated that these partnerships are expected to strengthen market linkages, industry access, mentorship, and investment opportunities for startups, contributing to India's clean energy transition and overall economic growth.
