Deputy CM launches grassroots outreach to energize Jammu Kashmir startups under 2024-27 policy

Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Chaudhary has initiated a comprehensive grassroots outreach program to invigorate startups in Jammu and Kashmir under the newly launched 2024-27 Startup Policy.

The policy, aimed at fostering innovation and easing business operations, is overseen by the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI). Chaudhary chaired a high-level review meeting emphasizing the "swift operationalisation of policy mechanisms" and the importance of "global mentorship collaborations and streamlined funding support for young entrepreneurs."

To deepen entrepreneurial engagement, the Deputy CM directed officials to implement targeted outreach activities such as idea challenges, business plan competitions, and innovation workshops across schools and colleges throughout the Union Territory. This approach seeks to build awareness and nurture startup culture from the grassroots level.

Chaudhary also called for strategic partnerships with reputed national and international institutions to mentor and accelerate startup growth, highlighting the policy’s focus on creating employment opportunities and facilitating ease of doing business across sectors.

"The JKEDI has been designated as the nodal agency to oversee the implementation," ensuring coordinated efforts to support young entrepreneurs.

This initiative reflects a concerted effort by the Jammu and Kashmir government to position the region as a vibrant startup hub, leveraging innovation and mentorship to drive economic development.
