The Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) is expanding its offerings this season by introducing a Women’s Cricket League alongside its men’s matches, marking a significant step for women’s cricket in the region.

The inaugural women’s competition will feature three teams, including one from the capital city of Bhopal.

According to MPL CEO Ravi Patankar, “We are pleased to confirm that all logistical preparations for the venue shift have been successfully completed.”

The tournament is set to commence on June 12 at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior, which has been relocated from Indore due to the advancing monsoon and delays in the Indian Premier League.

The men’s competition has also expanded, increasing from five to seven teams with new teams from the Bundelkhand and Chambal regions joining the league.

This dual-league format aims to promote cricket among women and provide them with a platform to showcase their talent alongside their male counterparts.
