In the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, a multi-party delegation of Indian MPs has embarked on a five-nation tour to raise awareness about Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has linked the attack to the radical views of Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir, accusing him of fueling religious hate.
The delegation aims to convey that “India stands united against terrorism,” emphasizing Pakistan's role in supporting terror camps.
Jaishankar has also dismissed Pakistan's denials of involvement in cross-border terrorism, stating that “the state is involved” and that “the army is up to its neck in it.”
The MPs will meet with officials in Russia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain, as part of India's diplomatic outreach to garner international support.
Following the Pahalgam attack, India launched airstrikes on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, marking a significant escalation in tensions.
The Indian government has also suspended the 64-year-old Indus Waters Treaty, reflecting its commitment to countering Pakistan's actions.
“If terrorist attacks from Pakistan continue, there will be consequences,” Jaishankar warned, underscoring India's resolve to combat terrorism.
