The Border Security Force (BSF) executed Operation Sindoor, targeting 76 Pakistani border outposts and 42 forward defence locations, successfully destroying three terrorist launch pads, including a Lashkar-e-Taiba site near Looni, Pakistan, just 3 kilometers from the international border.

This operation was a direct and decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Inspector General Shashank Anand stated, "As part of this operation, on the night of May 9 and 10, we carried out a deliberate and planned attack on a Lashkar-e-Taiba launchpad in Looni." He added, "The Pakistani post opened fire on India's positions, for which it was already prepared. As a result of this preparedness, we inflicted heavy damage on several Pakistani posts during the cross-border firing."

The BSF's intelligence had indicated the presence of 18-20 militants in Looni, anticipating infiltration attempts amid cross-border firing. The force's surveillance systems detected movements of 40-50 terrorists near Sialkot, prompting a preemptive strike in the Samba region to foil infiltration.

Following the Pahalgam attack, BSF and Army troops were deployed across sensitive regions including Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Samba, and Kathua, strengthening forward presence.

Inspector General Anand also praised the courage of BSF women personnel, noting, "Our women troops had the option to relocate to battalion headquarters, but they chose to remain at forward posts."

Operation Sindoor reflects India's strategic focus on targeting terrorists while avoiding civilian casualties, embodying the civilizational ethos of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (the world is one).

This operation underscores India's commitment to national security and its resolve to counter terrorism decisively along the International Border.

Background: Pahalgam attack and national unity post-Operation Sindoor

On issues of national security and economic progress, all factions need to put national interest over partisan priorities. I will appeal to everyone in the political spectrum to seriously reflect and come to a conclusion that on issues of national security… growth… our internal security, there must be consensus.
Vice President Dhankhar

The recent episode, Operation Sindoor, has changed our mindset massively. We are now nationalistic as never before. This is reflected in participation of all political delegations that have gone abroad to project our message of peace and our complete intolerance to terrorism… We have no other option but to remain united and grow stronger.
Vice President Dhankhar
Targeting only the terrorists because our civilisational essence is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (world is one). Therefore India’s strategy has been to target only terrorists and not civilians.
