Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed on Friday that he had been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer and underwent treatment, stating he requested to withhold the information for two months. This decision was made to prevent false propaganda during the war with Iran.
Netanyahu disclosed that a small tumor was discovered during a routine check-up at Hadassah Hospital, leading to radiation therapy. "I requested to delay its publication by two months so that it would not be released at the height of the war against Iran," he explained.
Aharon Popovtser, director of Hadassah's oncology unit, stated that prostate cancer is prevalent among men Netanyahu's age and indicated that the prime minister was diagnosed early. Popovtser mentioned, "We can say based on the findings of these tests that the disease has disappeared," referring to medical tests confirming Netanyahu's good health afterwards.
Netanyahu, whose age is 76, noted that he previously had prostate surgery about a year and a half ago and now considers this health issue minor. His transparency comes amid increasing tensions related to the regional conflict with Iran.
