Man Utd targets Pedro Goncalves as £100m Al Hilal bid looms for Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United is bracing for a potential £100 million bid from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal for their captain Bruno Fernandes, who has been pivotal with 98 goals and 97 assists in 270 appearances.

Al Hilal is reportedly offering Fernandes a lucrative £700,000 weekly wage, significantly higher than his current £280,000 at United, reflecting their strong intent to secure the midfielder.

"They are offering him wages only Ronaldo and Benzema have surpassed, they really are pushing the boat out," a source noted, highlighting the financial muscle behind the bid.

Despite the club's financial difficulties, partly due to missing European competitions, manager Rúben Amorim has expressed a desire to keep Fernandes, calling him "really important for us and what we want to build for the team."

However, United is preparing for the possibility of Fernandes' departure by targeting Pedro Goncalves from Sporting CP. Goncalves, who has scored 32 goals over the last two seasons and fits well into Amorim's 3-4-3 system, could be acquired for around £70 million.

This move would allow United to revamp their squad while potentially setting a new record sale, surpassing the £80 million received for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

Fernandes, 30, has won United's player of the year award four times, equalling the club record, and remains a key figure despite the looming transfer speculation.
