Rahul Dev performs emotional last rites of Mukul Dev at Delhi's Lodhi Crematorium

Actor Mukul Dev, aged 54, passed away on May 23 in Delhi after a brief illness that required intensive care treatment. His brother, actor Rahul Dev, performed the emotional last rites at the Lodhi Crematorium in Delhi's Nizamuddin area on May 24.

Mukul Dev was remembered fondly by family, friends, and the film fraternity. Rahul Dev confirmed the news on Instagram, stating, "Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully at New Delhi last night... He is survived by his daughter, Sia Dev. Missed by siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev and nephew Sidhant Dev."

The funeral was marked by visible grief, with Rahul Dev seen devastated while performing the rites. Mukul's career began in the mid-1990s with the TV series Mumkin and included notable roles in shows like Gharwali Uparwali, Kasshish, Ssshhhh Phir Koi Hai, and Kumkum  Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan.

His contributions to cinema were recognized with the 7th Amrish Puri Award for excellence in acting for his role in Yamla Pagla Deewana. Fellow actors expressed their condolences, with Sonu Sood writing, "RIP Mukul bhai. You were a gem. Will always miss you. Stay strong, Rahul Dev (Mukul Dev's brother) bhai." Neil Nitin Mukesh called him a "powerhouse performer and a lovely person."

Vindu Dara Singh, who worked with Mukul in Son of Sardaar, lamented that Mukul would not see himself on the big screen again, highlighting the loss felt by colleagues and fans alike.

Mukul Dev's untimely demise has left a void in the Indian entertainment industry, remembered for his versatile performances and warm personality.
