"He moved to a franchise where not much had been achieved historically, and then went on to win it for them," Uthappa remarked, emphasizing Iyer's ability to generate momentum at crucial stages. The contrast with KKR's struggles is stark. After Gambhir's exit, KKR had inconsistent performances, and despite star players like Sunil Narine, their form dipped. Uthappa suggested KKR might regret not retaining Iyer, given his success with PBKS.

"You want momentum at the right point in the tournament and the right kind of impetus going into the play-offs," Uthappa added, underscoring the importance of Iyer's captaincy in PBKS's playoff push.
