Shikhar Dhawan reveals desperation after broken arm led to Team India Test snub

Shikhar Dhawan, former Indian cricket opener, revealed the emotional and physical struggle he endured after playing with a broken arm during the 2016 Test match against New Zealand in Kolkata.

During the second Test, Dhawan scored just one run in the first innings and was struck on his arm by a delivery in the second innings. Despite the injury, he continued to bat, managing only 17 runs before being dismissed.

"The most difficult phase of my career, there was a time when I was really desperate. I knew that if I don't score runs I would be out of the team," Dhawan said in an interview on Ranveer Allahbadia's YouTube show 'Taakat'.

His determination to play through pain was met with disappointment as he was subsequently dropped from the Test squad. "I played with a broken arm, got out on 15-20 runs, and after that I was out of the Test team," he added.
