If the match is delayed, officials have a 120-minute window to push back the start. However, if the game is abandoned, PBKS will advance to the final by default due to their superior points table finish after the league stage.

"If Qualifier 2 between Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab and Hardik Pandya's MI does not take place, the table-toppers will get automatic qualification to the final by virtue of their superior finish in the points table after the league stage."

The winner of this high-stakes clash will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on June 3 for the IPL title.

MI, powered by Jasprit Bumrah, have staged a remarkable comeback after a poor start, climbing from second last in mid-April to secure a playoff spot. PBKS, meanwhile, topped the points table during the league phase but suffered a setback against RCB recently.

The match is expected to be played on a red-soil pitch that has favored teams batting first, with six of seven games in Ahmedabad won by the side batting first this season.
