Prime Minister Narendra Modi met 14-year-old cricket prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi at Patna airport, celebrating his remarkable IPL 2025 season with Rajasthan Royals.
The young batsman scored 252 runs in seven matches, including a record-breaking century off 35 balls against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur, making him the youngest player to score a hundred in men's T20 cricket and the second-fastest centurion in IPL history.

"At Patna airport, met the young cricketing sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family. His cricketing skills are being admired all over the nation! My best wishes to him for his future endeavours," PM Modi wrote on social media.

Vaibhav's IPL performance was exceptional, boasting a strike rate of 206.55 and an average of 36, with 18 fours and 24 sixes. His explosive batting has made him a national sensation and earned him a spot on India's Under-19 squad for the upcoming multi-format tour of England scheduled from June to July.

"He scored a century off 35 balls against Gujarat Titans in an IPL 2025 match in Jaipur," highlighting his rapid rise.

The meeting was facilitated by Bihar Cricket Association president Rakesh Tiwari, who secured special permission from the National Cricket Academy and BCCI to bring Vaibhav to Patna.

Vaibhav hails from Samastipur, Bihar, and was picked by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL auction. His success underscores Bihar's emerging cricket talent, with initiatives underway to discover more skilled players.

"Vaibhav has set such a great record. There is a lot of hard work behind Vaibhav's performance," PM Modi had earlier said during his Mann Ki Baat address.

Vaibhav's next challenge is to shine on the international stage with the India U19 team against England U19 in a series of matches including a 50-over warm-up, five one-day games, and two multi-day fixtures.

This meeting not only celebrated Vaibhav's achievements but also highlighted the potential of young Indian cricketers rising through domestic leagues to international prominence.
