Bharat Arun urges Mohammed Siraj: lead India’s Test attack in England series

Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun has urged Mohammed Siraj to lead India's pace attack in the upcoming Test series against England, emphasizing the young bowler's growing experience and recent form.

Arun highlighted Siraj's impressive IPL 2025 performance, where he scalped 16 wickets from 15 innings for Gujarat Titans, and noted his ability to translate that success into the longer format.

“It’s a great opportunity for Siraj. He’s got enough experience under his belt. I have seen him bowl some exceptional spells, like the one he bowled in the Lord’s Test, which we won last time,” Arun said.

With uncertainty looming over the availability of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for all five Tests, the responsibility to lead the seam attack is expected to fall on Siraj’s shoulders.

Since September 2024, Siraj has taken 26 wickets from nine Test matches at an average of 33.73 and an economy of 3.82, showcasing his growing prowess in the Test arena.
