The avalanche on Thursday resulted in the deaths of ten climbers, with eight bodies located and four successfully brought down. However, Purja and the others could not be moved due to the dangerous conditions. Mingma G explained, “There was another avalanche,” which forced rescuers to suspend their efforts.
Mingma G, a close friend of Purja, expressed his emotional commitment, stating, “My loving brothers Kilu, Wang and Nims, we will take you back home to see families…” His team is currently the only one remaining on the mountain, as others have departed.
In addition to the three bodies at 5,000 meters, three others remain on the mountain, including Nawang Thindhu Sherpa at around 6,000 meters, and the locations of Pakistani guide Sohail Sakhi and American client Mallory Geis are still unknown.8
