Xiaomi has officially unveiled HyperOS 4, its latest software update built on Android 17, with the first beta wave commencing in China on August 14.
The initial beta program includes the Xiaomi 17 series, Redmi K90 family, and Xiaomi Pad 8 tablets. Xiaomi plans to expand this beta in subsequent waves on August 27 and September 17.23
Two firmware formats have emerged on Xiaomi's servers: an OS4.0.0.x build indicates a device is moving towards beta or stable testing, while a .PRE build signifies internal development only.
Notably, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has shown stable development branches for China, EEA, Global, and India, while Russia is currently represented by an earlier .PRE build.
The Redmi K90 and POCO F8 Pro are also advanced in their firmware branches, detected across China and six international markets, including EEA, Global, Indonesia, Russia, Turkey, and Taiwan.
A larger second group has appeared under the OS4.0.260814.1.x.PRE format, indicating that Xiaomi is working on HyperOS 4 for older flagships, tablets, budget phones, and rebadged POCO models.
The Xiaomi 13 family has already been noted in HyperOS 4 development branches for Global markets, while the Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro have dedicated Global .PRE firmware despite not being in the initial stable-branch group.
Currently, Xiaomi's official beta program is limited to China, with no announcement yet for a Global beta or stable international release schedule.
