A 33-year-old woman, surnamed Wong, was found dead at a licensed pet hotel in Ta Kwu Ling after being mauled by a dog she operated. Police received a report at 4:11 PM on Thursday that she was lying unconscious on the grass, with visible wounds to her head, neck, and arms.12
The attack occurred around 2 PM when Wong attempted to return a one-year-old male mongrel to its cage after feeding it. The dog, weighing about 30 kg and measuring 1.5 meters in length, bit her shoulder and neck for approximately 10 seconds, with the entire attack lasting about one minute. Assistant Border District Commander Matthew Chan stated that the facility had been operating since January 2026 with a valid license.379

Upon arrival, rescuers found the dog circling nearby, and Wong was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary examinations revealed multiple bite wounds and tears on her body, and police confirmed she was not acting provocatively during the incident.10
The dog, which had been brought to the facility for adoption by a volunteer, has been taken by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department for observation. The case has been transferred to the Border District crime investigation team for a full investigation.
