A widespread outage affecting Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, Teams, and Xbox, has disrupted access for thousands of users. Reports began surfacing around 8 a.m. Thursday, with significant spikes in complaints noted on Downdetector.123478

Microsoft confirmed that some users in North America were experiencing issues accessing various services. By 10:30 a.m. ET, business and enterprise users reported outages across multiple platforms, including SharePoint, OneDrive, and Azure. The company stated, "We've confirmed some users in North America are experiencing issues accessing or using various Microsoft 365 services."5

The outage also affected Microsoft’s AI Copilot models and Xbox Live, with users unable to log in or access services. Downdetector indicated that the disruption coincided with issues reported for other online services, such as Amazon Web Services and Cloudflare.

Microsoft is currently investigating the cause of the outage, which remains unknown. The company has rerouted traffic to alleviate some of the issues, but the duration of the disruption is still unclear. Previous outages in January and April had similarly affected Microsoft Outlook and other services, raising concerns about the reliability of the platform.69

As of 2 p.m., reports of problems had decreased significantly, with fewer than 30 users still experiencing issues, but the overall impact of the outage has raised questions about service stability moving forward.
