In a heartfelt social media post, Vance shared, “We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.” The family expressed their gratitude to the incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Center, stating, “We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”2
This birth follows the recent delivery of a baby girl by the White House press secretary in May. Vance noted that he is unlikely to take parental leave after Alec's birth, as he balances his duties as vice president.
The Vances had previously welcomed their third child in December 2021, during Vance's Senate campaign in Ohio. In his new book, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, Vance revealed that Usha initially felt their family was complete but changed her mind after a personal tragedy involving their friend Charlie Kirk. “Something changed for Usha, and not long after we buried my friend, she became pregnant with our fourth child, a boy,” he wrote.
Usha Vance reflected on the emotional impact of Kirk's widow's comments, stating, “I think I had already started to open my mind to the possibility.”
