“The platform regulates trait activation at the level of protein translation,” said CEO George H. Greene, emphasizing its ability to maintain normal growth under non-stress conditions.
The technology addresses a critical challenge in crop biotechnology: improving disease resistance without the yield penalties often associated with traditional methods.
“When disease or other stressors are detected, the gate is released, allowing the plant to produce the protein and activate its defenses only when needed,” Greene explained.
This localized response prevents yield drag, a common issue with systemic activation methods.
