Military planners from over 30 countries, led by the UK and France, are convening in London to outline a mission aimed at securing the Strait of Hormuz. The two-day conference seeks to create a detailed plan for safeguarding vital shipping routes, recognizing their importance for international trade, energy security, and global economic stability.

UK Defence Minister John Healey emphasized, "The task, today and tomorrow, is to translate the diplomatic consensus into a joint plan to safeguard freedom of navigation in the Strait and support a lasting ceasefire." More than a dozen countries have indicated readiness to join this international mission once a sustainable ceasefire is achieved amidst ongoing conflicts, specifically the US-Israeli war with Iran.

Participants will address military capabilities, command structures, and deployment strategies necessary for an effective response in the region. Additionally, Britain’s Defence Ministry has indicated a commitment to formulating a detailed military agenda, stating that the two days will build upon previous discussions. Despite doubts regarding the feasibility of immediate action, Healey remains optimistic: “I am confident that, over the next two days, real progress can be made.” The conference is seen as critical to turning diplomatic agreements into actionable plans.
