Two die after being pulled from sea near Fistral Beach in Cornwall; new witnesses accuse relative of murdering Lin and Megan Russell

Two people have tragically died after being rescued from the sea at Fistral Beach in Newquay, Cornwall, on Sunday night. Emergency services, including coastguards and a rescue helicopter, responded to the incident around 9:45 PM, but sadly, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.¹

In a separate development, new witnesses have emerged in the long-standing case of Lin and Megan Russell's murders, which occurred in 1996. Michael Stone, who has spent 29 years in prison for the brutal attack, may face a potential exoneration as family members have named a relative, Raymond Buck, as the true killer.²³

One witness, Ross Shields, who was a child at the time, claims he overheard Buck confessing, stating, "I've done something unforgivable. I've killed three people." This revelation has prompted the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) to investigate the new evidence and conduct further DNA analysis, which could significantly impact Stone's case.⁴⁵⁷

Stone's solicitor expressed optimism, noting, "I'm much more positive than he has been for the last 29 years." The CCRC is now gathering fresh DNA evidence, as advancements in science may provide new insights into the case.
