Toyota Motor North America is investing $3.6 billion to expand its San Antonio manufacturing campus, which will double the facility's size by adding 2.5 million square feet and creating 2,000 new jobs by 2030.1
The expansion includes a second assembly line to transition Tacoma production from Mexico to Texas, as confirmed by Gov. Greg Abbott, who stated, "Texas is where the world builds bigger, and Toyota shows it once more with a $3.6 billion expansion in San Antonio that doubles their factory footprint and creates 2,000 new jobs."6
Toyota has operated in San Antonio for over two decades, with the current plant producing more than 197,000 vehicles last year. The total investment in the San Antonio operations will reach $8.3 billion since construction began in 2003.5
The expansion is supported by a $20 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant and a $50,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus. Local officials, including San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones, praised the project for its potential to strengthen the regional economy and create new employment opportunities. The new rear axle plant is expected to begin production in Fall 2026.
