A tragic accident occurred near Rompin when a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) skidded off the road, resulting in the deaths of a teacher and her son.1
The victims, Kartinie Ngatenan, 46, and her six-year-old son Muhammad Akif Mohd Azmi, died at the scene after the vehicle hit debris.2
According to Rompin police chief Supt Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi, the accident happened around 9.30 pm as the family was traveling from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, to Felda Keratong.
The vehicle, driven by the victim’s husband, struck a piece of wood on the road, causing him to lose control and plunge into a ravine.
The driver sustained head injuries and was treated at Muadzam Shah Hospital, while his wife and son suffered fatal injuries.5
The case is currently under investigation according to Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.6
