Chandrasekaran, who has been with the Tata Group for nearly 40 years, cited a lack of unanimous support from the Board for extending his tenure, which was set to last until February 20, 2027. In his statement, he expressed the need for clarity in leadership, stating, "It is not only necessary to have a leader in place to lead the Group beyond Feb 2027, but also clarity on leadership is important for employees, investors, partners and other stakeholders."

The fallout from his resignation highlights investor concerns regarding the future direction of the Tata Group, which has been a significant player in various sectors.
