The shooting occurred during a rave party attended by over 100 people, where the suspect fired more than 40 shots into the crowd. A 22-year-old Italian woman was killed, and six others were injured, with two remaining hospitalized but improving.12
The suspect, who has psychological problems, turned himself in to police in Delemont, about 53 km from the scene, and has not disclosed a motive. Authorities found three weapons in his vehicle, including an AK-74 assault rifle and two pistols, one of which was used in the attack.7
Aargau cantonal police commander Michael Leupold stated, “We therefore assume, with a high degree of certainty, that the shooting was the act of one individual — a lone perpetrator.” The incident has shocked the Swiss public, as such shootings are rare despite the country’s high rate of gun ownership. Investigators have found no evidence of ideological motives behind the attack, and the suspect was not previously known to law enforcement.
