Suno, the AI music generation platform, announced on Wednesday that it has raised
$400 million in its latest funding round, increasing its valuation to
$5.4 billion. The round, led by
Bond Capital along with
IVP and
Forerunner, highlights investor confidence despite ongoing copyright legal battles.
Suno, which reached
#11 in the global App Store and #1 in music, has generated significant user engagement, with
average session lengths hitting
55 minutes, surpassing platforms like
Spotify and
X (both ~30 minutes). The current funding follows a
$250 million investment just six months ago, which valued the company at
$2.45 billion.
Despite facing legal challenges from copyright holders like
Universal Music Group (UMG) and
Sony, who claim infringement based on 560 of their copyrighted works, Suno appears undeterred. CEO
Mikey Shulman stated, “We’ve seen Suno used by professional producers and songwriters, but also by millions of people making music for the first time.”
While litigation from UMG and Sony is ongoing, Suno recently developed a licensed model in collaboration with
Warner Music Group, as part of their efforts to address copyright concerns. Their plans include rolling out this model in the coming months as they continue to expand their user base and offerings.
