Sulaiman says Pakistan's involvement in US-Iran peace talks is an attempt to whitewash its global image; Cites human rights abuses.

Sulaiman, the son of jailed ex-PM Imran Khan, criticized Pakistan's involvement in peace talks between the US and Iran, labelling it a mere "whitewash" aimed at distracting from the government’s human rights violations.

"I think the Pakistani regime are doing their best to clean up their image on the international stage," Sulaiman stated, asserting that this push for diplomacy coincides with allegations against the Punjab Crime Control Department (CCD) for extrajudicial killings, responsible for over 1,000 deaths in the past year.
Sulaiman highlights that these abuses categorize the government's assurances as insincere.
“The state is doing a good job, to distract from the human rights abuses and the insults to the democracy that they have been continuing for the last few days,” he noted.
Furthermore, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has demanded a judicial investigation into the deaths, describing them as "staged encounters" directed by the ruling party.
This situation illustrates the escalating tensions in Pakistan's political and human rights landscape as international attention pivots towards the nation's diplomatic maneuvers.
Imran Khan, imprisoned in August 2023, faces over 100 charges, further complicating the political climate.
