The winner has the option to choose between an annuity valued at $1.040 billion or a lump-sum cash payment of $450.5 million, both amounts before taxes. If the annuity is selected, the winner will receive an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.4
This jackpot was the largest Powerball prize awarded this year and came after months of rollovers, with the prize now resetting to an estimated $20 million for the next drawing on August 15.
