A 13-year-old girl in Michigan is being hailed as a hero after she survived being shot four times and managed to call 911 during a shooting spree that left six dead, including the suspect, Chad Hickman.25
The girl, who was in critical condition, was stabilized after being taken to the hospital. State police spokesperson Lt. Ashley Miller confirmed that she called 911 to report that she had been shot at one of three scenes where the rampage unfolded. “We were able to identify him right away,” Miller stated, referring to Hickman, who was later found dead next to a victim in a wooded area.3
Hickman, 39, is alleged to have killed five people across three locations in Michigan’s Missaukee County. Among the victims were 40-year-old Amanda Everitt and her 16-year-old son, Eric. David Everitt, Amanda’s father, expressed his grief, stating, “this world just lost two beautiful people and one is clinging to life.” He praised his granddaughter, saying, “who while shot 4 times still managed to call 911 and identify the shooter.”1
At the first scene, police found the bodies of a 16-year-old boy, a 45-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman, along with the critically injured girl. A 53-year-old victim was discovered at a second home, while a 29-year-old woman and Hickman were found dead together in the woods.
