German authorities have launched a manhunt for 21-year-old Abdul B., a suspect in a van ramming incident at Berlin's Pride festival that resulted in one death and at least 16 injuries. According to police, three individuals sustained life-threatening injuries, while another eight were seriously injured and five suffered minor injuries. The Pride event, which was taking place near the Brandenburg Gate, was abruptly called off around 10:15 p.m. as chaos ensued.9
Police spokesperson Florian Nath confirmed that the suspect is known to authorities and has connections to Islamic groups in Berlin. “The suspect is known to police. He is known to us as a member of Islamic circles here in Berlin, and our search for this person is proceeding at full speed,” Nath stated. However, he added, “we still have no information whatsoever regarding his specific motives, the exact sequence of events, or his role in the crime itself.”56
