Market analysts noted that the divergence in the indices followed the introduction of a new auction mechanism for shares with futures and options (F&O) contracts. This mechanism, known as the Closing Auction Session (CAS), aims to enhance the transparency and robustness of the price discovery process.

Among the major gainers, Reliance Industries surged 3.43 percent, leading the blue-chip firms, while other notable winners included State Bank of India, Bharat Electronics, ICICI Bank, Eternal, and Titan.
