Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari emphasized that RS-2 is not merely a target-setting document but a comprehensive framework for development, focusing on economic leadership, balanced development, and inclusive human capital.
The plan is designed to benefit approximately 7.4 million residents and aims for a median monthly household income of RM14,000 while maintaining an annual economic growth rate of 6.5%.
Amirudin stated, “RS-2 is about creating a decent life and dignified economy,” highlighting the importance of aligning state agencies and local authorities with the plan's objectives.
Selangor seeks to enhance its share of Malaysia's GDP to between 28% and 30%, leveraging its extensive infrastructure and human capital to develop a unique economic identity.
The plan includes 98 initiatives across 25 focus areas, with a strong emphasis on local implementation. Amirudin noted that Selangor could draw inspiration from global cities like Tokyo, Shanghai, and Dubai, rather than emulating Singapore.
He remarked, “With our strengths, we could be like Shanghai, which has the port of Shanghai, or Dubai, which has ports in Abu Dhabi.”
