A second non-local worker has died following a terror attack in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, raising the death toll to two. The victim, identified as Bhopendra from Chhattisgarh, succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack on July 31, 2026.12
Earlier, another worker, Deepak, was shot dead in the same incident, which occurred when suspected terrorists opened fire on non-local labourers working at a brick kiln in Kulgam’s Kelam area.
Security forces have intensified operations in the region to track down the assailants, who managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the attack, stating that the administration and the nation stand with the victims' families. He directed security forces to “step up their operations and eliminate the terrorists.”
