SBI Funds Management Ltd. made a strong debut on the Bombay Stock Exchange, with shares rising as much as 8.9% to ₹625 before settling at ₹610. This follows a successful IPO that raised approximately ₹9,813 crore (about $1.02 billion), marking it as India’s largest IPO of the year.34
The company, which holds a 15% market share in mutual fund assets, aims to leverage its parent bank's extensive customer base of nearly 53 crore to significantly increase its investor pool. Currently, only 5.5 lakh of these customers invest in SBI’s mutual funds, indicating substantial growth potential.7
Debasish Mishra, MD and CEO of SBFM, emphasized the need for greater investment participation, stating, “Of India’s 140 crore population, the investment portfolio is just about 10 crore, and the newly listed company would like to bring another 100 million in five years’ time to this whole investment world.”5
