Quad has introduced its Elegan 1 and Elegan 2 loudspeakers, marking a return to high-end audio with accessible pricing. Designed by Peter Comeau, these models utilize advanced woven Kevlar driver technology, enhancing sound clarity and performance.
The Elegan 1 is a two-way design featuring a 16.5cm Kevlar mid/bass driver and a 25mm fabric-dome tweeter, ideal for smaller spaces. In contrast, the Elegan 2 is a three-way floorstander with dual 16.5cm bass drivers, a 12.5cm midrange driver, and the same tweeter, providing extended bass response.
Both models incorporate the QUAD Airflow port system to minimize turbulence and enhance airflow, while their Linkwitz-Riley acoustic topology ensures optimal sound dispersion. The speakers are built with high-density cabinet walls and internal bracing to control resonance, contributing to their significant weight—8.9kg for the Elegan 1 and 27.8kg for the Elegan 2.6
Quad emphasizes that the use of Kevlar allows for “precise pistonic behaviour over a wider bandwidth,” improving midrange clarity and reducing unwanted resonance. The speakers are available in deep matte black or walnut finishes, with the Elegan 1 priced at £749 / $995 / AU$1699 and the Elegan 2 at £1,499 / $1,995 / AU$3499, set to launch on July 24, 2026.
