President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led tributes on the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, commemorating the sacrifices of soldiers who fought in the 1999 Kargil War.6
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed military personnel in Dras, stating, “The nation shall forever remain indebted to them. The saga of valour of those heroic warriors will continue to inspire future generations.” He emphasized that any dialogue with Pakistan will only concern Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), which he described as “part of India illegally occupied”.2
Singh asserted that India’s armed forces are prepared to respond to any misadventure by Pakistan “in a manner beyond their imagination.” He recalled Operation Sindoor, conducted in May 2025, which targeted the backers of terrorism following a terror attack in Pahalgam.
Singh criticized Pakistan for its state-sponsored terrorism, stating, “While we are finding new ways of innovation, Pakistan is seeking new ways of infiltration.” He reiterated that any threat to India’s sovereignty would be met with a decisive response.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a reminder of the “indomitable courage, sacrifice, and unwavering resolve” of the Indian Army, inspiring future generations with a spirit of patriotism and dedication to duty.
On this day, a ‘Shradhanjali Samaroh’ will be held at the Kargil War Memorial to honor the bravehearts of the war.
