Police have opened an investigation into a TikTok video alleging that a political party has gained control over the Negeri Sembilan royal institution, as reported by Berita Harian.
The investigation is being conducted under the Election Offences Act for promoting hostility, the Penal Code for making statements that could cause public fear, and the Communications and Multimedia Act for misuse of network facilities, according to Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad.56
Alzafny urged the public not to speculate or circulate the video, warning that it could interfere with the investigation or disrupt public order.
The Negeri Sembilan palace has also called on all candidates contesting the state election to avoid linking the royal institution to their campaigns.
Comptroller of the Royal Household Azizi Mohamad Ali emphasized that the palace remains strictly neutral and is not aligned with any political party.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previously urged political parties not to politicize matters involving the state’s royal institution.
