Pakistan has become one of the top 10 countries facing acute food crises, with 11 million inhabitants suffering from significant food insecurity.
Specifically, 9.3 million are in 'crisis' and 1.7 million in 'emergency' conditions, reflecting a dire situation exacerbated by ongoing extreme weather events, including heavy monsoon rains and flash floods that have affected more than 6 million people.

The global hunger report indicates that the proportion of the population analyzed rose from 16% to 21%, adding more than 14 million people to the dataset, showcasing the severity and increasing scope of Pakistan’s food insecurity.

Over the years, the levels of acute hunger have remained alarmingly high, with 22.9 percent of populations in food crisis territories facing acute food insecurity last year, up from 11.3 percent in 2016.
According to the report, the number of people affected has skyrocketed from 108 million in 2016 to approximately 266 million in 2025.
Furthermore, an estimated 35.5 million children are acutely malnourished across the globe, indicating the humanitarian impact of these crises.
